How to choose the right chairs/chair decor for your wedding day!
When it comes to choosing what you want for your wedding day chairs, all of the choices can seem a little daunting. There are so many different chair options and chair covers, a lot of couples really don’t know where to start.
Most venues (although not all) will have their standard chairs. Depending on the type of venue you have chosen, these will vary. Hotel venues normally have banqueting chairs which most couples will want to cover for their wedding day, as they really aren’t the prettiest of chairs! However, we do know that chair covers are not every one’s cup of tea, so there is always the option of hiring in different chairs for your wedding day.
How do you know what chairs to choose?
There are a few factors to consider when choosing your chairs. Firstly budget; If you are working with a tight budget, but do not like your venue’s chairs, there are ways to hide and decorate them using chair covers, hoods, sashes and flowers. Choosing this option, it gives you the ability to keep costs down, and also incorporate your style and colour scheme into your chairs. Secondly; choose a chair style that goes with your venue. If you have chosen a older, very elegant style venue, you don’t want to start taking the focus away from the venues character, so think about this when choosing chair options.
Do you need to order/decorate more chairs for the evening guests?
This is something that we get asked a lot. The answer is it’s totally up to you! Things to consider; Are you going to have lots more guests attending the evening reception? And are they likely to be sat down most of the evening instead of up dancing? If the answer to both of them questions is yes, and you would like the chairs to fit in with your décor scheme, then its probably best to order/decorate more for the evening. Most venues will be able to store the additional chairs for you, and then bring them out when needed.
Do you have to use the venues chairs?
Most venues will not mind if you want to hire in chairs from an external company if you do not wish to use theirs. We would however, always recommend double checking this with your venue before hand to make sure this is something they are happy for you to do.
What other styles of chairs can you hire in?
There are many different chair options which you can hire in for your wedding day. Below is a small selection of the types of chairs you have to choose from. Many of the designs come in different colours also.
Choosing chair covers with hoods/sashes.
If you have chosen to go for chair covers with a sash or hood, you may find yourself struggling to choose what style or colours to go for. A lot of couples really struggle to choose a colour that matches there theme exactly. For example, we have over 400 colours to choose from, in a wide range of materials, that can be tied and decorated multiple different ways. This is where speaking to your décor company about the style and look you want to achieve so they can help you to figure out exactly what you want. Remember, different colours look different in different materials, so the likelihood of your bridesmaid dresses being the exact same colour as your chair sashes, is quite slim… But this isn’t something to stress about. Choose a colour pallet and go with it, colours do not have to match exactly. There is no rule to say you have to just have one colour for your wedding.
If you are having difficulty deciding on your options for your chairs, speak with your décor company or wedding stylist, who will help you navigate through the different options available and what would work best for your theme and venue. Most importantly, relax, stay calm and enjoy the journey of planning your special day.
Below are some examples of chairs that we have decorated to show you different ideas.
Enjoy your planning :)
